When choosing clothing for travel, make sure to follow these guidelines:
- Choose items that can be mixed and matched. Stick to a color scheme - black, brown or khaki and include items that can be worn with more than just one other piece.
- Select versatile pieces (i.e., a black skirt that can go from day to night).
- Look for quick-drying tags (traveling light typically means DIY laundry and usually that is in hotel sinks. Wash these items at night and by morning they should be ready to pack).
- Don't play the "what if" game. If a prince asks you to dinner, then trust me, you will want to go shopping!
- Wrinkle-resistant features always help. No matter how good of a folder/packer you are, having items that are wrinkle-resistant is always helpful (and looks nicer).
- Limit your shoes! We try choosing our shoes first and then our clothing. That way you are not throwing extra shoes in at the end to go with select outfits. Try wearing one and packing the other. And, wear your heaviest and bulkiest on the plane.
There are plenty of more tips to come!
